The material was originally shot on Super 8 film along with all the problems & limitations that this involved. It has now been through the digital remastering process however, both picture & sound quality are variable. As one reviewer put it though, ‘ In view of the subject matter this is immaterial ‘.

Many countryside locations are included where Deltics are seen at speed. One of my favourite spots was the north end of Stoke Tunnel. Here you will see PINZA respond as the Driver asks for more after emerging from the tunnel already doing about 70 m. p. h. 12 & 15 are also seen here. Also featured is the short North Askham tunnel where we see 12 & 15 again. Many other rural locations featured including Langford, Bawtry Woods, Balderton, Muskham, Claypool, Holme & East Markham.

At York No. 21 arrives & runs round, I have edited to this No. 9 departing to make a complete sequence for a Kings Cross semi – fast.

Great scenes at Peterborough include a superb shot of No. 13 making an effortless start heading south for Kings Cross.

Other urban locations include Selby, Edinburgh, Doncaster, Goole, Kings Cross, Welwyn G. C., Huntingdon, Hitchin & St. Neots. Also included are shots of The Royal Border Bridge.

Some of the Railtours from 1981 are also included. These Are –Wessex Deltic, Deltic Fenman, Deltic Detour, Deltic Cumbrian, Deltic Broadsman, Deltic Anglian & a Norwich – York special.

Locations in this section are – York, Clapham, Carnforth, Steamtown Carnforth, Finsbury Park, Bournemouth, Eastleigh, Portsmouth HBR., Bury ST. Edmunds, Peterborough Wansford N. V. R., Kings Cross, Dent, Carlisle, Wymondham NFK. & Norwich.

Look out for people you know. Were You There? You may even see yourself.

The undoubted highlights are No. 9 passing through Wymondham with The Deltic Broadsman  & No. 7 at Bury St. Edmunds with The Deltic Anglian.

Locomotives included are – 002, 003, 004, 005, 007, 008, 009, 010, 011, 012, 013, 014, 015, 017, 021 & 022.

By way of a bonus & in a departure from my normal practice I have included a shot of a preserved locomotive at the end of the DVD.

This is of No. 19 at Linlithgow. Turn the volume up, put your ear defenders on & stuff some cotton wool up your nose.

Another departure from normal practice which I should mention is the inclusion of music. In some instances where the original material was shot on silent film I just do not have appropriate Deltic sound to dub on. Where I Have I have done so.  The Music is provided appropriately by The Band Of The Black Watch.
