Following on from our previous three volumes celebrating the Class 50’s here is volume four to commemorate their 50th anniversary.

We begin in 1983 at the two London Terminus stations that the Class regularly worked out of; Waterloo on the Southern Region and then Paddington on the Western Region. If you like your 50’s blue with large logo then this part will suit you.

Large logo is again the order of the day in the form of 50044 and 50005 hauling a superb rake of Mk.1 stock at Exeter St. Davids in 1986. Two visits to Reading follow in 1986 and 1987 by which time Network SouthEast livery had hit the scene. Here in 1987 is perhaps one of the best shots of a 50 you will see as 50035 in the new livery arrives, simmers and departs under a threatening sky.

A grubby No.8 calls at Salisbury and failed 50035 has been rescued by 33028. After another short visit to Paddington in 1987 the next stop is Andover. 50035 turns up again, this time to take the spirited start award.

There are two visits to Oxford to enjoy; one in 1987 and one in 1988. 50022 ventures on to Eastern Region metals in 1988 in charge of The Suffolkman Railtour from Bristol to Norwich, we see the loco approaching Norwich light engine and then charging up Hethersett bank near Norwich on the return leg of the tour with a rake of Mk.1 stock in Inter City livery.

Also included are several full thrash lineside shots at several locations including Cholsey and Twyford.

Locos included are – 002, 003, 005, 007, 008, 009, 011, 015, 017, 018, 019, 021, 022, 023, 024, 025, 026, 027, 028, 029, 030, 032, 034, 035, 036, 037, 039, 043, 044, 045, 047 and 048.
