13 October 2009: NEW TITLES ADDED, SEE AVAILABLE TITLES PAGE. Hello and welcome to Diesel Traction Video. We were one of the first companies back in the 1980s to issue videos featuring the modern rail scene. Back then we traded under the name of Modern Traction Video since our titles featured electric as well as diesel traction. Now we have dropped the spark boxes and concentrate solely on British Rail diesel traction. We had some enthusiastic reviews of our videos published in both Rail Enthusiast and Railway Magazine. Our first release in 1983 was dedicated to the Class 55 Deltics and this was originally movie film which had been taken before the days of video cameras. A great deal of trouble and expense was gone to having it transferred onto video but the quality was not brilliant. However, it sold very well and everyone was more than happy with it. The plan is to get the film transferred again and hopefully this time improve the quality. It is difficult to imagine now, especially for younger people, that in the early 80s video was still in its infancy. This is no doubt why we were one of the first on the scene. A large amount of heavy equipment had to be carried around but the medium improved beyond all recognition by the end of that decade. Several titles followed the Deltic production culminating in two volumes dedicated to the Class 50. All material is now being remastered on to DVD for the enjoyment of enthusiasts throughout the world and productions will be different to those previously issued on video. This time we have started off with two volumes dedicated to
the Class 50. Most of the locomotives
seen in these first two volumes are in the standard large logo livery, only one
member of the Class appears in N S E livery. The green 50007 also puts in an
appearance. There should be another two or so volumes of 50s later. There is no doubt
that DVD is of superior picture and sound quality.
Where with the video one lost quality in copying from original to master and again from master to copy the DVD quality holds up all the way through. So here is what you will get with a Diesel Traction Video. A
DVD made by enthusiasts for the enjoyment of other Enthusiasts. Watch a Class
